Adelaide Antique Fair

The fifth Adelaide Antique Fair will be held at the Burnside Ballroom.

Local and interstate dealers will be attending, selling a range of quality items for serious collectors and amateurs. From jewellery to china, oriental to silver, the 35 dealers will have something for everyone.

As in previous years, 10 per cent of each entry ticket will be donated to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation.

There will be valuations on Saturday and Sunday costing AUD2.00 per item (with all proceeds going to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital) so bring along your treasures for an honest appraisal.

The Adelaide Antique Fair was a great success last year, and you can be guaranteed an hour or two of fascination in browsing the display areas, shopping for unique treasures, and pausing for refreshments as you go.

God of Carnage

State Theatre Company of South Australia presents God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton.

A comedy of manners... without the manners. Alan and Annette’s son has hit Michael and Veronica’s son with a stick, breaking two of his teeth. The grown-ups have gathered to discuss, logically and amicably, how to deal with the boys. After all, nothing will be gained by behaving like children...

At first diplomatic civilities are observed, but as the meeting progresses and the alcohol flows, huge tensions emerge, and the gloves come off, leaving more than just their liberal principles in tatters.

Featuring Yasmina Reza’s incisive observations, acerbic wit and deliciously shrewd humour, God of Carnage is a hysterically funny night of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime.

Following the Adelaide season the production will tour to Noarlunga, Mount Gambier, Renmark, Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Lincoln.

Tasting Australia

Tasting Australia is the nation's premier food, wine and beer festival. In the 11 years since its conception, Tasting Australia has become one of Australia's most influential and best attended food and drink festivals. The event has hosted hundreds of Australia's and the world's top chefs, sommeliers, restaurateurs, food, wine, beer and travel media - including the most highly respected television presenters and producers - and has attracted a wide cross-section of the food-loving public to Adelaide and South Australia.

Tasting Australia regularly attracts celebrity chefs such as Rick Stein, Antonio Carluccio, Nick Nairn, Rachel Allen, Paul Rankin, Sophie Grigson, Madhur Jaffrey and Claudia Roden, Stephanie Alexander, Serge Dansereau, Neil Perry, Shannon Bennett, Paul Wilson, Chris Taylor, Cheong Liew and many more.

While Tasting Australia began as a largely media-based event - aimed at drawing the attention of newspaper, magazine, radio and television attention to the bounty of South Australia - it has now grown to such an extent that the 2007 Tasting Australia comprised some 70 events, of which 65 were aimed at the general public. Some 50,000 people attended over eight days.
